The Academy of
Brave Hearts

"True courage is not the absence of fear —
it's the choice to act despite it."

Books, games, workbooks, and music built around twelve young knights learning to face their fears — and a vision for what an in-person therapeutic youth program could become.

✦ CLINICAL NOTE FROM DOREATHA PAGE, LPC
Each of the twelve knights represents a distinct clinical presentation. Children self-select their knight during gameplay — and that choice tells you more in 30 seconds than most intake questions. The therapeutic content is embedded in the story structure, not added on top of it.

✦ THE VISION

The In-Person Academy

This is where it all points — a real youth therapeutic program where children become knights, face their fears together, and leave with more than a story. This is an idea being built into a reality.

What the Academy Could Become

The twelve knights aren't just characters — they're twelve ways that fear shows up in childhood. Each one maps directly to a clinical presenting issue that counselors see every day:

  • Sir Small — anxiety, low self-worth, "I'm not enough"
  • Lady Flame — anger, emotional intensity, dysregulation
  • Sir Curls — depression masked by humor, avoidance
  • Sir Whisper — selective mutism, social anxiety, trauma
  • Sir Atlas — perfectionism, masculinity, asking for help
  • Lady Wonder — anxiety, need for control, uncertainty
  • Sir Gentle — people-pleasing, boundaries, assertiveness
  • Sir Steady — parentification, caretaking, identity

BUILDING THE PROGRAM — STEP BY STEP
1
Finish the digital library NOW
Organize all existing tools into this hub. This is the proof of concept — it shows publishers, funders, and partners what's already built.
2
Write the 8-session curriculum
One session per knight. One presenting issue per session. Story, game, workbook, and discussion in each. This becomes the facilitator guide and the grant deliverable.
3
Run a free community pilot
6–8 youth through Rooted In Hope Therapy, a church, or community partner. Collect pre/post outcomes. Build the evidence base for grant applications.
4
Apply for grant funding
SAMHSA, Title IV-E, local community foundation, and HUD-affiliated community health grants. Your LPC credential is a significant differentiator.
5
License to schools & clinics
Package the curriculum as a licensable program for school counselors, outpatient clinics, and group practice networks across Texas and beyond.
